Check out our newest fullblood boer goat herdsire!
Steamer is a registered
fullblood!
His first kids will be arriving very soon!
I've raised goats with my
parents since 1999, but starting in 2007 it is now being formed into a
productive business. Our main focus
will be on commercial boer goats. Hopefully you'll
like what you see, especially after we have spent a few years
selectively breeding our boer goats to meet our standards. We
will be
breeding for kidding ease, mothering ability, multiple kids, ability to
feed kids,
pasture hardiness, and of course growth rate and eye appeal. I
hope to see this well underway by 2010. One
trait we like that some folks focused on showing may or may not
appreciate, is
four clean
teats. Goats
raising triplets on two teats often end up with a runt (I know from
experience!) and this can be
entirely eliminated with good lactating dams that have four clean,
functional teats.
Ivy is our guard
llama. She
eats everything the goats do, and leads them all over the place when we
let the goats "out to eat" outside of their normal pasture. It's
so funny to watch her checking out the newborn kids every spring.
We are located just south of St. John, Kansas; specifically, two (&
1/8) miles
south of Hwy. 50, and two miles east of Hwy. 281. If you ever
happen to be in the area, feel free to drop in and take a peek at our
goats! We'd appreciate being warned first, but if the thought
crosses your mind to drop by while you happen to be in the area don't
be afraid to stop and see if we're home. We're around most of the
time, and would be glad to take
you on a tour!
