GoForth Goats was just established as a business this past year in 2007.  Things started a little bit slow, but much faster than we'd anticipated.  I'm thinking that things will probably start to really pick up next year.

One of our goals is to purchase a fullblood or purebred registered boer buck by or before 2010.  I have a whole stack of requirements that I'll be letting fly, so we'll see what we come up with.  My parents have just purchased a new high percentage boer buck this year that has some really good qualities and should serve us until then.  I'm so thrilled with this year's kid crop.  We have a bunch of really nice kids, and they're growing like weeds in a garden.  The three month old ones are ripping the home made weighing sling hanging on the scale!

Goats galore!

I've raised goats with my parents since 1999, but their main focus is turning towards dairy, so my sister and I have pulled our goats from their herd, and we'll be breeding our own boers.  Our main focus will be on commercial boer goats.  Hopefully you'll like what you see, especially after we have spent a few years selectively breeding our boer goats to meet our standards.  We will be breeding for kidding ease, mothering ability, multiple kids, ability to feed kids, pasture hardiness, and of course growth rate and eye appeal.  I hope to see this well underway by 2010 (a key year for us!).  One trait we like that some folks focused on showing may not appreciate, is four clean teats.  Goats raising triplets on two teats often end up with a runt (I know from experience!) and this can be entirely eliminated with good lactating dams that have four clean, functional teats.

Ivy, our goat's guard llama
Ivy is our guard llama.  She eats everything the goats do, and leads them all over the place when we let the goats "out to eat" outside of their normal pasture.  It's so funny to watch her checking out the newborn kids every spring.

We are located just south of St. John, Kansas; specifically, two miles south of Hwy. 50, and two miles east of Hwy. 281.  If you ever happen to be in the area, feel free to drop in and take a peek at our goats!  We'd appreciate being warned first, but if the thought crosses your mind to drop by while you happen to be in the area don't be afraid to stop and see if we're home.  We're around most of the time, and would be glad to take you on a tour!

MAP

I hope you'll browse around and check out our website.  We have one boer goat for sale in Kansas right now, but if you like any of our boer brood does feel free to place an offer on her and we may part with her if the offer sounds tempting enough, or do some bargaining.  Of course we have a page for our handsome bucks as well, plus a reference page on the dams and sires of some of our goats.  Check out our young boer buck, Charger!  Now last, but by no means the least, we have a bunch of dairy goats.  These are our keepers, and we don't usually want to bargain on any of these unless they are ones that we already have for sale.  We are also in the market for a buck right now, so if you have some for sale check out our wanted list!  Feel free to send me an e-mail if you have any questions, requests, suggestions, or find any broken pictures or links.  I'll be glad for your input!  Thanks for looking, and come back soon!
